Ohh.. Yeah.. Oh.. Yeah.. Wont you let them be There's more to life Than the honeybee Seeking pleasures free You can't own the world And the summers fine When it's warm outside But when the chill comes In the nighttime You can't own the world Heard them say Everyday Is a play On a stage Got no lines Just some time For us to while away So if you make a scene Why not make it good You can't own the world So the blossoms bloom And you do too, mm I'm sure it's true You can't own the world And confession's free You have the heart Of the honeybee So sing to me You can't own the world I am sure You adore All that flowers All that grows Never know Where to go Or how life Will unfold But it's good For the blood To run round Wild and free You can't own the world

See my God I'm racking up All these IOUs To the ground I walk on And it's killing me To be blind And then to see All that is evident In what is happening Wrong doesn't start to say All that's gone away Look at this genocide Below our feet for our pride Too proud to be the monkey So instead we're plastic junkie Choke on the mess you made here Congratulate yourself my dear It's hard to be upset When we are all complicit Can't do much else but try To go out and rectify The cleaning crew is here Everyone's tasks declared No choice but to get stuck in End this endless suffering No more Money over man No more Destruction land No more Closing of the heart No more Keeping groups apart No more Fighting fire with fire No more Every hearts desire No more Instant gratify No more Incessant lies

And I remember Looking back I think I really had it all Just a little girl in a community How did it get So far off track I think We really had it all Paved paradise for the utility If she talk like a Rasta Well then I bet that she walk like a Rasta And then I guess that she gwaan like she hug tree Well then I guess that that makes her a hippie I try to get my mind get my mind right I try Tell the people with the labels step off And everybody say oh... When I look at this civilization All I want to do is build an oasis When I think of the future of humanity There is nothing but one choice If she talk like a Rasta Well then I bet that she walk like a Rasta And then I guess that she gwaan like she hug tree Well then I guess that that makes her a hippie I try to get my mind get my mind right I try Tell the people with the labels step off And everybody say oh…

about

This is a spur of the moment EP made to mark this special occasion in our calendar history. I chose to sing about the thing I care about most at this point in time since the album is about time.
Time is a recurring theme in my lyrics and it is a precious thing that I have seen slip away from me. I am not sure I spend my time wisely but I try my best to ensure each moment is as peaceful as it can be until the next. I shy away from pain unless I know it can teach me and even then I am strategic. Because I value my time and I want to invest it in things that bring joy and are sustainable.
In my song "Fun" I say: 1 for the money, 2 for the show, 3 to pull me back out of the undertow.
These songs fall in line. When I speak about the oasis I want to build in track 3 it is a plan I truly have where I want to have a space that fosters creativity and love of nature and fellow humans. This space is something I am building toward with everything I can and if I cannot make it, I hope others do. We need these spaces to rehabilitate ourselves and rewild ourselves.
Happy 22-2-22. This is the time for second chances. The time to turn things around. Please listen and enjoy. Then do what your heart tells you to do. Agitate, spread information, join a group, contribute your talents, ideate, be a product tester for ecological innovations, divest and invest wisely, vote with your dollars, get informed and seek out inspiration and hope wherever you can. This is definitely worth fighting for and it's our time to stand up.

Songs written, produced and sung by Aleya Jobson between 21:00 on 21-2-22 and 2:00 on 22-2-22.

This is some of the first music I have made since the pandemic and my preceding shift in mental state. There is still some fragility and I think that is worth keeping record of and using as a reference point in the future for comparison.
